Experience and Education

————

High School graduation or GED equivalent and one (1) year phlebotomy experience or a phlebotomy certification.
Twelve hours of college credit in Basic Science courses and six months experience as a Medical Assistant or Clinical Lab Assistant.

Job Duties

————

Performs skillful phlebotomy procedures in timely manner.
Greets and communicates with patient in order to put them at ease.
Confirms that appropriate paperwork is available for patient.
Enters data of patient demographics and lab order instructions.
Supplies appropriate codes and prices for patient requisitions.
Labels patient specimens and paperwork accurately and distributes to appropriate areas of lab.
Processes patient specimens.
Keeps area stocked with essential supplies.
Keeps work area decontaminated with proper cleaning solutions and disposal of wastes and trash in appropriate containers.
Files patient lab requisitions.
Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: (a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; (b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; (c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or (d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.

**Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
